If you plan to have supper at the pub, it’s probably a good idea to arrive in time to order and eat downstairs before the readings start.
Charlotte Gann is a writer and editor from Lewes. Poems have appeared in Magma, The North and The Rialto, and her pamphlet, The Long Woman (Pighog Press), was shortlisted for the 2012 Michael Marks Award. Her book Noir was published recently by HappenStance. Filmic and dark, its poems form micro-narratives that explore the shadows. A review (by DA Prince) concludes ‘Noir suits our times’.
Catherine Smith was one of the PBS/Arts Council ‘Next Generation’ best new poets, and also one of Mslexia’s Top 10 Women Poets. Shortlisted for the Aldeburgh/Jerwood Best First Collection prize, and twice shortlisted for Forward Prizes, she was described by Ian McMillan as ‘a fierce talent’. Short stories and a long narrative poem, The New Cockaigne (Frogmore Press) have been adapted for Live Literature performances in conjunction with Lewes Live Literature.
John McCullough‘s first collection of poems The Frost Fairs won the Polari First Book Prize in 2012 and was a Book of the Year for The Independent. His new collection Spacecraft explores absence and emptiness as creative forces. It was named one of The Guardian‘s Best Books for Summer 2016. He lives in Hove and teaches creative writing at New Writing South and the Open University.
